I had a bit of a lightbulb moment this week.. Eco Store run a series of events for journalists around toxins, good health, nutrition, and lifestyle every month and I'm lucky enough to attend them to share with you. This month's was Dr James Wilson, an American Integrative doctor who was the first to recognise Adrenal Fatigue as a diagnosable syndrome - in fact he actually coined the phrase "Adrenal Fatigue" in 1998. Adrenal Fatigue is also described as the "21st Century Stress Syndrome", a common health problem that is often under diagnosed and not treated. You feel extremely tired, lacking in energy/enthusiasm, and generally down on life. Not unlike Depression. Our adrenals secrete hormones and if not functioning correctly give us imbalances which can play havoc on our daily lives. Getting Adrenal Fatigue diagnosed can be difficult, so I've listed the symptoms and some key info below in the hope that you may be able to identify with and take from there to your doctor. Feeling overwhelmingly tired is not normal - and CAN be fixed!! That's my A-ha moment right there.

Confessions of a Smartphone addict

It got to fever point the other night on the couch when my gentle husband delicately said, honey, why don't you just relax and watch the TV. I'm sure in his head he was saying "put down that bloody phone." It's not like I didn't see it coming. For a few months I've felt guilty every time I've picked it up to "check" something, especially in front of the kids or mid conversation. It takes a lot for Davey to suggest or ask something he knows i'll probably snap at. I found myself apologising profusely and saying, no please, do tell me.. like I don't know i'm addicted to my smartphone.
